The activities of the University Festival of Fine Arts were launched under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, hosted by Al-Kitab University, with the participation of (43) public and private universities from various Iraqi governorates.

The festival events began with a blessed recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in mercy upon the souls of the righteous martyrs of Iraq, then the Iraqi national anthem was played to mark the launch of the most prominent university artistic event.

In his speech during the opening, Professor Dr. Ayad Barznchy, President of Al-Kitab University, emphasized that the university believes that “art is a sublime humanitarian message that contributes to building the university personality and enhances the values of beauty, taste, and creativity in the hearts of students.” He indicated that Al-Kitab University pays great attention to the arts and is keen to support festivals and artistic forums in the fields of theater, music, painting, and other arts, adding that the university hosts creatives from inside and outside Iraq, and that coinciding with this festival, the Street Theater Festival is being launched with the participation of major artists.

Assistant Lecturer Ammar Zuhair Sabri, the official of the Artistic Division in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Board, also delivered a speech in which he expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for the significant efforts made by Al-Kitab University in supporting students’ artistic and creative activities.

At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the President of Al-Kitab University and a delegation from the supervising Ministerial Committee inaugurated the University Festival of Fine Arts, marking the beginning of artistic performances and exhibitions that embody the creativity of Iraqi university students and the diversity of their artistic visions.
