Assist. Prof. Dr. Kadhim Mohammed Hussein Al-Lami
Dean of the College of Science
Welcome to the College of Science at Al-Kitab University – Kirkuk, established in October 2023 with the approval of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under Ministerial Order No. T H / A Q / 17211 on October 17, 2023.
The college was founded with four scientific departments operating under the Bologna Process (semester system) as defined by the Ministry. Three departments were established under the same ministerial order:
Department of Mathematics Sciences – 29 students enrolled (16 male, 13 female), full-time attendance.
Department of Medical Physics Sciences – 137 students enrolled (42 male, 95 female), full-time attendance.
Department of Life Sciences – 79 students enrolled (27 male, 52 female), full-time attendance.
The fourth department is the Department of Forensic Science Sciences, established in 2023 as a replacement for the Department of Forensic Science Techniques (founded in 2018), also following the Bologna system. It enrolled 352 first-year students (273 male, 79 female), full-time attendance. According to these statistics, the total number of first-year students (Bologna pathway) admitted to the college for the 2023–2024 academic year is 597.
The college has academic twinning agreements with the College of Science at the University of Kirkuk (Departments of Mathematics Sciences, Life Sciences, and Forensic Science Sciences) and with the College of Science at the University of Mosul (Department of Medical Physics).
For the 2024–2025 academic year, 447 students were admitted across the four specializations, bringing the total number of students to 1,298. This includes 254 students in the third and fourth years of the Forensic Science Sciences department under the semester system, who were transitioned from a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science Techniques to Forensic Science Sciences.
Currently, 1,697 students are enrolled following the establishment of three new departments: Department of Pathology Analysis, Department of Smart Medical Systems, and Department of Biochemistry, reflecting the growing importance of the college’s specializations.
The college offers both morning and evening studies, embraces scientific and technological advancement in teaching, and aims to develop students academically so they may achieve a prestigious position in regional and international scientific circles — particularly in the currently established specializations.
The duration of study is four years, upon completion of the program requirements outlined in the department curricula. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the seven specializations mentioned above. The educational process is managed by highly qualified professors with extensive experience in their fields.
