The Human Rights Division at Al-Kitab University, in cooperation with the College of Dentistry, held a scientific seminar titled “Human Rights and Quality of Healthcare,” attended by the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Haza’ Dawood, and a number of university professors and students.
The seminar came within the framework of the university’s endeavor to enhance awareness of human rights concepts and link them to proper health practices, especially in academic and medical institutions, and to clarify the importance of adhering to humanitarian and ethical standards in providing health services.
The seminar was presented by Lecturer Dr. Aseel Hassan Mahmoud, who reviewed during her lecture the most fundamental principles of human rights in the health field, emphasizing that the quality of healthcare is not limited to the therapeutic aspect alone but includes respecting the patient’s dignity, ensuring their right to obtain clear information, and providing a safe environment that takes into account professional and ethical standards.
The seminar included interactive discussions among the attendees, addressing ways to develop health services in line with international human rights standards, and the role of academic institutions in preparing qualified medical personnel who are aware of their humanitarian responsibilities before their professional ones.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the organizers emphasized the importance of continuing to hold such scientific events that contribute to spreading the culture of human rights and consolidating quality concepts in the health sector, which positively reflects on the level of services provided to society.
