Al-Kitab University was established in 2012 as a university college with three departments: Law, Computer Technology Engineering, and Financial and Banking Sciences, as per the establishment license issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority (No. JH / 1655, dated 2013/3/26).

In 2018, the college transitioned into a university through the ministerial order issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Department of Private University Education (No. TA / K 13987, dated 2018/8/29). The university now includes 12 colleges and 39 departments across various disciplines, namely the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, College of Applied Arts, College of Engineering, College of Pharmacy, College of Education, College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Science, College of Media, College of Law, College of Technical Engineering, and College of Technical Medical.
