Today (Wednesday), the activities of the Short Film Festival hosted by Al-Kitab University concluded, with the participation of approximately 42 public and private universities from across Iraq, in a distinctive academic and cultural gathering.
The closing ceremony honored a number of supporting figures and institutions. The University President, Prof. Dr. Iyad Barzinji, honored the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Private Education Department, Assistant Lecturer Ammar Sabri, while the Ministry of Education, represented by Dr. Atheer Riyad, was honored in recognition of its role in supporting academic and artistic activities.
The Administrative Assistant to the University President, Dr. Abdulilah Hameed, also honored the contributors to the success of this festival, which reflected an advanced level of student creativity in the field of cinema.
The results were as follows:
- First Place: University of Al-Sabtain for the film “Athar” (Impact)
- Second Place: University of Baghdad for the film “Baseerah” (Insight)
- Third Place: University of Kufa for the film “Yawmain” (Two Days)
Other results:
- Fourth Place: Al-Mustaqbal University for the film “Khayt Al-Hayat” (Thread of Life)
- Fifth Place: Northern Technical University for the film “Al-Hamish” (The Margin)
- Sixth Place: University of Mosul for the film “Al-Awdah” (The Return)
- Seventh Place: Al-Ain University for the film “Al-Riwayah” (The Narrative)
- Eighth Place: Islamic University for the film “Al-Azima” (The Determination)
Special Awards:
- Best Direction: Al-Noor University for the film “Al-Ta’awun” (Cooperation)
- Best Screenplay: Al-Hamdaniya University for the film “Al-Qatil Al-Lateef” (The Gentle Killer)
- Best Cinematography: Al-Turath University for the film “Al-Injaz Al-Ilmi” (The Scientific Achievement)
- Best Editing: Al-Kafeel University for the film “Nuqtat Samt” (A Point of Silence)
Acting Awards:
- Best Actor: Ali Saif from Al-Bayan University
- Best Actress: Hawraa Humam from Ahl Al-Bayt University
The jury also awarded its special prize to University of Hillah in recognition of its outstanding participation.
This festival is part of supporting student cinematic movements and enhancing artistic creativity among students of Iraqi universities, while also providing a platform to showcase young talents and exchange expertise among academic institutions.
