Occupational Safety and Health Unit
About the unit
The Occupational Safety and Health Unit is the designated body at Al-Kitab University responsible for implementing and monitoring the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in accordance with the international standard ISO 45001:2018 and the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The unit works to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, students, and visitors by identifying risks, preventing incidents, and promoting a culture of safety across the university.
To be a leading model in occupational health and safety management among Iraqi universities, ensuring a safe, sustainable, and productive environment that supports academic excellence and institutional development.
To establish and maintain an integrated occupational health and safety system that proactively identifies and controls risks, ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and fosters a culture of safety through training, awareness, and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ministry requirements.
Identify and assess hazards across all university facilities.
Prevent workplace injuries and occupational illnesses.
Enhance safety awareness through training and communication.
Continuously improve safety performance through monitoring and auditing.
