Activities celebrating the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism continued on Tuesday for the third day in a row at Al-Kitab University, with broad participation from security and academic institutions as well as students and community stakeholders.
The program was attended by Brigadier Adnan Al-Qasimi, Director of Community Police, alongside representatives from the Intelligence Agency – Technical Division, in addition to a number of academics, students, and individuals interested in security and community affairs.
The day’s events opened with a seminar delivered by Brigadier Al-Qasimi titled “The Role of Community Police in Protecting Society from Intellectual Extremism Leading to Terrorism.” In his talk, he emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between security agencies and academic institutions to raise awareness, promote moderation, and counter extremist ideologies that threaten public safety and social stability.
A specialized lecture was also presented by the Intelligence Agency’s Technical Division, highlighting modern mechanisms for technical monitoring and analysis. The session discussed how contemporary technologies can help track activities linked to extremism, supporting preventive efforts and reducing associated risks.
In addition, Dr. Abdulwahab Khairi delivered a scientific seminar titled “The Effects of Religious Extremism on Society,” where he reviewed the social, psychological, and economic consequences of extremism. He stressed the need for coordinated action among educational, religious, and media institutions to promote tolerance and reject violence.
