Al-Kitab University Continues Its Comprehensive Awareness Week to Combat Drugs

Al-Kitab University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior / Directorate of Narcotics Affairs in Kirkuk and the Community Police, has continued the activities of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, whose first events were launched on the opening day with wide participation from students and faculty members. This national initiative aims to enhance societal awareness of the dangers of drugs and to instill a culture of prevention among young people.

As part of the academic program for the third day, the university hosted an extended scientific session with the participation of several specialists, during which two significant lectures were delivered:

  • The first lecture was presented by Prof. Dr. Adnan Qader Zangana, Dean of the College of Law. He reviewed the legal framework for combating drugs, the deterrent penalties stipulated by law, and the role of academic institutions in educating students about the dangers of this scourge.
  • The second lecture was delivered by Colonel Adnan Al-Qasimi, Director of the Community Police in Kirkuk. He addressed the field aspects of the work of security agencies, mechanisms for dealing with cases of drug abuse and promotion, and the importance of community cooperation in limiting the spread of drugs.

The activities of the week will continue for seven consecutive days on campus, and will include specialized workshops on health prevention, open dialogue sessions with university students, as well as on-the-ground awareness campaigns aimed at promoting a culture of health awareness and strengthening partnership between the university and security and health institutions in confronting the phenomenon of drug abuse.
