Al-Kitab University Staff and Students Hold Memorial Vigil for Anfal Tragedy

Professors and students of Al-Kitab University, led by President Professor Dr. Ayad Barznji, organized a memorial vigil on campus to mark the anniversary of the Anfal tragedy, in which tens of thousands of Kurdish civilians lost their lives during the 1980s.

The vigil witnessed wide participation from various colleges within the university. Participants held symbolic images of the victims, observed a moment of silence, and recited Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of their souls.

Participants also expressed their solidarity with the victims’ families, emphasizing the importance of keeping this memory alive in the national conscience.

This vigil reflects Al-Kitab University’s commitment to fostering historical awareness, promoting values of coexistence and peace among all segments of society, and rejecting all forms of violence and oppression.
