Department of Technical Optical

about the department

The Department of Technical Optical at the College of Technical Medical, Al-Kitab University, welcomes new students for the upcoming academic year. Our department is led by a distinguished team of specialists in both the technical and medical fields. We offer well-equipped laboratories for the manual and electronic production of medical glasses, optical devices, medical optical physics, and vision testing. As part of the Ministry of Health’s central distribution system, our graduates are prepared to meet the needs of Iraq’s healthcare system.

Our department is dedicated to providing students with an exceptional academic education, following the highest university standards. Students are trained in a wide array of subjects, including medical materials, anatomy of the head and eye, general pharmacology, eye pharmacology, general pathology, eye diseases, optical refraction, and the preparation of medical glasses and contact lenses, among others. The program combines theoretical and practical learning, offering hands-on training both inside and outside the university, especially in hospitals and specialized centers. The department strives to equip students with the skills necessary to excel in technical optics and to serve patients across Iraq, all while upholding ethical and professional values.
