The Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technical Engineering was established in 2012 as one of the key departments at the university. The primary objective of the department is to prepare and graduate technically specialized engineers in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Graduates will be skilled in designing cooling and heating systems, managing installations, and maintaining refrigeration and air conditioning technologies.
The department offers a comprehensive curriculum covering both theoretical and practical aspects of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering. Students gain hands-on experience in designing, operating, and maintaining various systems critical to industrial and residential settings.
The department welcomes graduates from scientific branches of secondary education and technical institutes specializing in electronics, control systems, medical devices, telecommunications, and electrical technologies. Graduates are eligible to join the Iraqi Engineers Union, according to the union’s decision from February 9, 2009.

The department’s mission is to enhance education both quantitatively and qualitatively, in alignment with the university’s primary goals of introducing new pathways and channels in undergraduate studies. These efforts are aimed at keeping pace with modern technological advancements so that the specializations and research align with the country’s scientific development. This is in response to ongoing discoveries and the rapid progress of science and technology across all aspects of contemporary human life.

- Prepare engineering cadres.
- Utilize all available resources to achieve a distinguished academic level by providing the necessary laboratories and resources.
- The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering branch aims to qualify graduates as technical engineers capable of developing initial designs for air conditioning and refrigeration systems, as well as supervising the maintenance and installation of these systems in their various types.
