A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visits Al-Kitab University
A delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by Deputy Minister Prof. Dr. Salam Khoshnaw and the membership of Mr. Ali Razzouki Director of Private University Education, Dr. Tarek Mohammed Hamza Associate Director of Private University Education and Mr Thamer Hussein Mahdi, visited Al-Kitab University College on Sunday,8th July 2018. Prof. Dr. Abbas Hassan Taqi, President of Kirkuk University and Administrative Assistant of the University of Kirkuk, Dr. Omar Najmuddin Anja also joined the team which paid the visit.
The Deputy Minister praised the continuous development witnessed by Al-Kitab University College, stressing that it is ready at all levels to be transformed from college to a private university. He also pointed out that the ministry strongly supports private colleges that are witnessing progress and development such as Al-Kitab University College, and that technical committees will visit the college soon to complete the procedures of converting it to a university after the adoption of this subject at the next meeting of the Council of Education.
The director of private university education, Mr. Ali Razouki said that Al-Kitab University College is one of the colleges that responded to the legal requirements related to the integrated teaching staff, infrastructure, classrooms and scientific laboratories, halls, sports stadiums and students dormitories. He also added that Al-Kitab University College has the continuous support of the Ministry, and is expected to lead private universities in Iraq, pointing out that this committee has visited Al-Kitab University College to examine the requirements for its conversion to a university, and a report will be submitted to HE the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
As regards the delayed recognition of Al-Kitab University College by the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kurdistan Region, despite the obvious development witnessed by this college, Mr. Ali Rzouki said that they are in constant contact with officials in the Ministry of Higher Education in Kurdistan Region, and that the Director of the private education in the region is himself a member of the Iraqi Private Council for Education, pointing out that he knows officials in charge of the issue are studying the matter seriously, stressing that he expected to achieve this recognition very soon. This recognition will enable Al-Kitab University to receive students from all parts of Iraq, from south to north.
The Committee’s visit included access to the College’s facilities, infrastructure, laboratories and halls, and held a meeting with the teaching staff. The committee was received by the Dean of Al-Kitab University College, Prof. Dr. Ayad Ghani Ismail, Mr. Yacoub Najmuddin and a number of heads of scientific departments and directors.
