Kitab and Kirkuk Universities organize a scientific symposium on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day

Al-Kitab University, in cooperation with the University of Kirkuk, organized on (Saturday 19/6/2021) a scientific symposium on the occasion of #World_No_Tobacco_Day.

The President of Al-Kitab University, Prof. Dr. Ayad Barzanchi, said in a speech during the opening of the symposium: “The World Health Organization has put the slogan of commitment to quit smoking” in its recollection of the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 31 of each year, in an effort to urge Quit this harmful habit by continuing to try quitting. He added: It is no secret to anyone, the pioneering role that universities can play in this regard, especially with the terrifying numbers of smoking victims, which according to the World Health Organization reach the death of one person every four seconds, and that eight million people die annually due to direct smoking. Or passive smoking, and that today we have more than a billion people around the world who use tobacco, indicating that the matter is related to Al-Kitab University, and based on its scientific and societal responsibility, it has adopted many important decisions in this regard, foremost of which is the complete ban on smoking in the university’s offices and halls. Putting up warning posters and stickers throughout the school year, holding educational seminars and encouraging scientific research that monitors the dangers of smoking and its consequences for both sexes and for all ages.

Scientific research and documentaries on the catastrophic health damages of smoking were presented at the symposium, which was attended by the scientific assistant of Al-Kitab University, Prof. Latif Barzanchi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Kirkuk University, Prof. Omar Inje, and a number of researchers.
