Third International Scientific Conference of Al-Kitab University

Under the auspices  of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail, in official and academic presence headed by Mr. Bashir Haddad, Vice-President of the Iraqi Parliament; today (Tuesday 10/1/2019), works of the Third International Scientific Conference held by Al-Kitab University in cooperation with Swedish Lund University were launched. The conference has carried the slogan (Women, War and Peace Industry in the Middle East) with the participation of Iraqi, Arab and foreign researchers from different parts of the world.

The opening ceremony of the third international scientific conference witnessed the attendance of Iraqi and foreign political and academic personalities such as Dr. Orhan Hikmat Aziz, President of the Council of International Universities, Dr. Idris Hadi, President of Tishk University, Professor Eden Maarouf, deputy in the Parliament in the Kurdistan Region, Professor Shakhwan Abdullah, former deputy in the Iraqi parliament, Rola Al-Husseini, Director of Studies at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies  at the Swedish University of Lund, and a number of deans of colleges at the Iraqi Universities.

The conference began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, then standing for one minute, and reciting Surat Al-Fatihah in respect of all the martyrs of Iraq.

Then the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Rafea A. Jaber, Director of the Student Affairs Department in the Department of Private Universities Education, delivered a speech on behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail, saying “On behalf of the Department of Private Universities Education at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research I am pleased to honor Speaking to you on this blessed scientific occasion, the occasion of your third international conference, congratulating Al-Kitab University and the committee supervising the preparation of this conference, which will be held in its welcome with the participation of a group of the best researchers from Iraq and from neighboring and friendly countries. “

He added that “the new scientific, technical and cultural knowledge has become the focus of the comprehensive social development process that we need today, after an era of unfair scientific and knowledge breakthroughs was impressed on our country that took decades of exhausting and disgraceful backwardness of our nation and our people in an unjust and oppressive manner.”

He explained that “the desired goal of convening this blessed conference is embodied in the slogan drawn by those responsible for its affairs, and it is undoubtedly a slogan that embodies what is circulating in our thoughts in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in the private university institutions and researchers in this conference towards women and revealing their role in the movement of society. To reach the levels of progress and progress at all levels, she spared no effort with the talents available that were refined by life experiences, as she is the first station for the development of human materials, and she is the main supporter of man’s movements and residences, especially in the consequent decision-making that Egyptian men take in relationships except Social and the consequent loyalty or hostility, which since the very beginning and the beginning of creation has formed the other half of the people who inhabit the earth, and thus the woman has become the objective equivalent in human life and this is what the researchers will reveal.

And Abd al-Rida said, “This blessed effort that the University of Al-Kitab promoted under the umbrella of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research represents conclusive evidence of the authenticity of al-Mutanabbi’s words.” According to the determination of the people of determination, the determination comes … and comes according to the honorable dignity” so prepare for this conference and prepare for it.

Then the President of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Ayad Barzanji, President of Al-Kitab University, delivered a speech announcing the launching of the implementation of the third international scientific conference held by the University in cooperation with the Swedish University of Lund, which will be held this year under the slogan (Women, War and the Peace Industry in the Middle East.

Barzanji added that “the allocation of the conference to women’s issues specifically to be a main focus of an international scientific conference, but it stems not only from the recognition of the importance and prominence of women’s issues in Middle Eastern societies, including Iraq, but also from our keenness at Al-Kitab University and the University of Lund to draw attention to one of the most important issues and argument in our societies and placing it under the scope of scientific research, which represents a practical embodiment of our university’s goals and vision in expressing the needs and aspirations of society. ”

He explained that “the conference is attended by 100 researchers from universities of Sweden, Norway, the United States of America, Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan and Syria in addition to researchers from the universities of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and every research has been subject to examination, scrutiny and certification from specialized scientific committees that took into account the scientific and academic conditions of scientific research “.

Barzanji revealed that “Al-Kitab University is taking the final steps to launch Al-Kitab University Campus City, which will be the first of its kind in the country, spanning an area of ​​about 100 acres, and includes an integrated educational dental hospital with the latest specifications, and modern buildings for the colleges of dentistry and pharmacy, a large conference hall, green spaces and restaurants, and playgrounds and everything a university student needs”.

He added that “Al-Kitab University teahers continue their unremitting efforts in the field of scientific training through a series of researches and patents presented by its professors and researchers, as the university entered the international rankings as QS and RUR rankings, and for the second year in a row it ranked first in the engineering academic classification conducted by the Iraqis Engineers Union”.

At the end of his speech, the President of Al-Kitab University pointed out that “the university has many cooperation and twinning agreements with a large number of Iraqi, Arab, European, Asian and regional universities (Turkish and Iranian), and it is an active member of the Union of Arab Universities, the International Universities Union and the International University Council.”

Then the Vice-President of the Conference, Dr. Rola Al-Husseini, Director of Studies at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University in Sweden, delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and thinkers interested in the affairs of women and the Middle East and exchange views and experiences.

The President of the Council of International Universities, Mr. Orhan Hikmat Aziz, during his speech at the opening ceremony congratulated Al-Kitab University saying, “I congratulate Al-Kitab University by holding the third international scientific conference and selecting women in consideration and title for the conference.”

Then a documentary film about Al-Kitab University was presented under the title “Al-Kitab University ……  the Story to be continued”, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
