Department of petroleum engineering

about the department

Welcome to the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Al-Kitab University. Founded to address the vital need for highly trained engineers in Iraq’s dynamic oil and gas industry, our department is dedicated to equipping students with cutting-edge knowledge and skills required for the advancement of the petroleum sector. Situated in the historic city of Kirkuk, a central hub of Iraq’s oil production since 1927, our department benefits from proximity to both established and newly developed oil fields across the northern provinces. This strategic location allows students unique access to Iraq’s primary oil-producing regions, enriching their practical learning experiences and fostering a strong connection to the industry.

Our department serves not only as an educational institution but also as an active consultancy center, offering specialized solutions to overcome challenges in oil fields and refineries. Through close collaboration with industry experts and the practical application of learned skills, students and faculty work together to address complex issues in oil extraction, production, and refining, supporting the optimization of these processes to ensure sustainability and efficiency.
